  • We source rice from regions known for growing the best of each variety, and we work directly with the farmers and millers whenever possible. Our Organic Jasmine is grown in Thailand (where authentic Thai Hom Mali comes from). Our Organic Brown and Sticky White are Calrose medium grain rice grown in Northern California, specifically the Sacramento River Valley. Our Basmati comes from India or Pakistan, most often India. The additional grains in our flavored items come from Thailand, California, or Cambodia (which shares the same alluvial region as Thailand).

  • In the facility (not necessarily in every product):
We process small amounts of gluten, soy, and sesame in our facility. We follow strict allergen protocols, starting each run with a full clean and producing our Organic, unflavored items first. Flavored items — and those containing allergens — are always run later in the schedule.

    Not present in the facility:
Milk, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, and shellfish are not processed in our facility.

  • Yes, our bags are BPA and PFA free. That said, if you’d prefer not to microwave in plastic, you can simply pour the rice into a microwave-safe bowl, cover with a plate or lid, and cook. Same rice, no plastic.

  • Absolutely. Stove-top instructions are printed on the carton, but it’s simple: pour the rice into a small non-stick pan, sprinkle with a little water, cover with a lid, and cook on medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Arsenic is naturally present in soil and groundwater, so it can be found in most foods grown in the ground — including rice. Levels vary by growing region. We source from Northern California and Thailand, which historically report lower levels than some Southern U.S. regions. We also test our rice lots and take steps in our rinsing and cooking process that help reduce final levels.

  • Yes. Two bags take roughly twice the time. If you’re cooking half a bag, pour the portion you want into a bowl, cover, and microwave for about 1:30. You can refreeze the remaining portion in the pouch. When ready to use, fold the empty portion of the bag under the rice and cook as usual.
